Hospitable Review: The Time-Saving Tool Every Vacation Rental Host Needs

When we started hosting at The Mountain View Cottage in Harpers Ferry, we were Airbnb-only. We only advertised on the Airbnb website, and all our bookings came from there. It was fine — until it wasn't. We were getting bookings but they were slower than expected, so we expanded to VRBO, then Booking.com, then our own direct booking site. More channels meant more bookings, but also more chaos: logging into four platforms to block dates, respond to guests, and update listings. We needed a better way — and that's exactly what this Hospitable review is about.
That's when we found Hospitable — and it's been one of the best decisions we've made as hosts.

What Is Hospitable?
Hospitable is a vacation rental management platform that syncs your calendars across Airbnb, VRBO, Booking.com, and your direct booking site — all from one dashboard. It automates guest messaging, prevents double bookings, and gives you back hours every week. Below is a sample image view of our main Hospitable menu and dashboard. At a glance we can see check-ins, check-outs and tasks.

Pricing
Hospitable offers four tiers:
- Free: Core automation, multi-channel calendar sync (Airbnb, VRBO, Booking.com), unified inbox, automated guest messaging, and upsells like early check-in or late checkout.
- ~$25/month: Everything above plus a metrics dashboard with earnings forecasts, an AI assistant, and dynamic pricing to help you set competitive nightly rates.
- ~$50/month (our plan): Everything above plus a direct booking website with guest payment collection, ID verification, and smart lock integration that auto-generates unique door codes per guest.
- ~$87/month: Everything above plus QuickBooks integration, AI inbox messaging, and custom branding for your direct booking site.

We're on the $50 tier. To put that in perspective: it's roughly the cost of one-quarter of a single weekend night at our cabin. For everything it automates, it pays for itself many times over.
Ease of Use
Hospitable's interface is clean, bright, and intuitive. The navigation is straightforward — go to Properties to update a listing, go to Guest Experience > Messaging to manage communications. There's no steep learning curve, even if you're not particularly tech-savvy it is super simple to use!
Time Savings
This is where Hospitable really earns its keep. Instead of jumping between apps, you create message templates once and set them to send automatically — to any guest, on any platform, at a time you choose.
We use our hosting scripts inside Hospitable to build welcome messages and checkout reminders. Each guest automatically receives their unique door code (the last four digits of their phone number) at a scheduled time — no more "I forgot my code" messages at 10pm.
You can also set keyword-triggered auto-replies. If a guest mentions "firewood," Hospitable detects it and sends your pre-written response instantly. It's a personal touch that runs on autopilot.
Realistically, Hospitable saves us somewhere between 3–5 hours per week — time that used to go toward switching between apps, manually blocking calendars, and answering repetitive guest questions. That time now goes back into the property and the business. Below is an example of the hosting script we send automatically to anyone who inquires about our property.

Unified Inbox
The unified inbox lets you respond to guests from any platform — Airbnb, VRBO, Booking.com (Booking.yeah! - sorry couldn't help it!) — without ever logging into those apps. One inbox, all your conversations. The AI assistant can also draft replies to guest questions for you, which is a genuine time-saver during busy seasons. Instead of saving four different apps on your phone, Hospitable allows you to save just one.
Here is an example of our inbox with guest messages from both Airbnb and VRBO.

Direct Booking Website
Hospitable's built-in direct booking site is polished and easy to set up — choose a template, plug in your property details, and you're live. Hospitable handles guest payments and runs ID verification, so you're not just saving time, you're also hosting more securely.
More importantly: direct bookings mean you're not paying Airbnb's ~15.5% host fee. On a $500 booking, that's nearly $80 back in your pocket. Over a full season, that adds up fast. This is what our direct booking site looks like live on the Hospitable platform.
Hospitable vs. the Competition
We looked at a few alternatives before committing — namely Guesty and Lodgify. Here's the short version:
- Guesty is powerful but built for property management companies with large portfolios. The pricing reflects that — it's significantly more expensive and overkill for a solo host or small operator.
- Lodgify is a solid option if your primary goal is building a direct booking website. But its channel management and automation features aren't as mature as Hospitable's.
- Hospitable hits the sweet spot for independent hosts: strong automation, clean channel sync, a direct booking site, and pricing that scales with you from free all the way up.
Who Is Hospitable Best For?
Hospitable works well across the board, but it's especially well-suited for:
- Solo hosts on 1–3 properties who want to list on multiple channels without the operational headache
- Hosts transitioning to direct bookings who need a website, payment processing, and ID verification without stitching together multiple tools
- Hosts who value automation — if you want guest communications to run themselves so you can focus on the experience (and your life), Hospitable is built for that
If you're managing 10+ properties at a commercial scale, you may eventually outgrow it — but for most independent hosts, it's more than enough.
Pros & Cons
- ✅ Multi-channel calendar sync — eliminates double bookings across Airbnb, VRBO, Booking.com, and your direct site
- ✅ Automated guest messaging — templates, scheduling, and keyword triggers
- ✅ Smart lock integration — auto-generates unique door codes per guest
- ✅ Direct booking website — with payment collection and ID verification built in
- ✅ Unified inbox — one place for all guest conversations
- ✅ Free tier available — genuinely useful, not just a trial
- ❌ Dynamic pricing requires the $25+ tier — not available on the free plan
- ❌ Custom branding for your direct site requires the top tier (~$87/month)
- ❌ Not ideal for large portfolios — enterprise-scale operators may need a more robust PMS
Our Honest Take
I used to spend way too much time checking messages across multiple apps and manually blocking dates to avoid double bookings. Since setting up Hospitable, almost all of that runs in the background. Guest messages, review requests, check-in reminders — it's just handled. I'm not glued to my phone anymore.
If you're managing more than one channel (or planning to), don't wait. Set up Hospitable from day one and save yourself the headache we had early on.
Final Verdict: Is Hospitable Worth It?
After using it daily at The Mountain View Cottage, our answer is a clear yes. This Hospitable review comes from real experience — and if you're a vacation rental host juggling multiple platforms, it's one of the best investments you can make. The automation alone is worth it, and the direct booking website pays for the subscription many times over every season.
